Guggenheim Foundation, which led to the Museum&#8217;s inauguration in October 1997. Its home, the former church of the Heart of Mary, is a small neo-Gothic gem, designed by the architect Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda de Basterra, who was born in Bilbao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collection comprises&nbsp;<strong>exact reproductions of masterpieces,<\/strong>&nbsp;first copies of original works that grace the walls of the world\u2019s most prestigious museums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit also allows us to closely admire some of the most important statues in the&nbsp;<strong>History of Art<\/strong>: the Panathenaic frieze from the Parthenon in Athens, the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Apollo Belvedere, the Apoxyomenos, Laoco\u00f6n and his Sons, the Slaves, Michelangelo&#8217;s Moses&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Itsasmuseum Bilbao<\/strong><\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"634\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min-1024x634.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min-1024x634.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min-768x476.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min-1536x951.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Itsasmuseum-min.png 1828w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on the same site as the former Euskalduna shipyards,&nbsp;the purpose of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itsasmuseum.eus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Itsasmuseum<\/a>&nbsp;is to&nbsp;<strong>protect and disseminate maritime culture<\/strong>, particularly that of the stretch of water between the Bilbao Estuary and the Bay of Biscay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum\u2019s permanent exhibition explains the historical significance of the Bilbao Consulate that was first set up in 1511, the commercial and industrial activities of the Port, the shipyards, marine carpentry and sea rescue. Its beautiful cloister and carefully maintained rooms create an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity that enhances the enjoyment of the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On display are&nbsp;<strong>ancient and modern paintings and sculptures, as well as gold and silver work and religious ornaments.<\/strong>&nbsp;Most of the works come from churches, convents and hermitages in Vizcaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is also the setting for the original escape room, \u201cThe Abbey of Atxuri\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Bullfighting Museum<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min-1024x607.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min-1024x607.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min-300x178.png 300w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min-768x455.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min-1536x911.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-taurino-min.png 1872w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Opened in 1995, this museum is located in the Vista Alegre Bullring, in the Ametzola district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It traces the history of bullfighting through didactic texts illustrated with more than a hundred photographs, prints by Goya, original posters of different bullfights, bullfighting costumes, books and models of Bilbao&#8217;s old bullrings, among other items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-arqueol\u00f3gico-min-796x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46267 size-full\"><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Archaeological Museum<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizkaikoa.bizkaia.eus\/detalleContenido.asp?t=1&amp;id=68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Arkeologi Museoa<\/a>, is located in the Casco Viejo, next to the Mallona stairs, in a building that once housed the old Lezama train station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If having to climb all those stairs puts you off, the City Council has kindly provided a lift in Calle Prim that takes you up to the Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Arkeologi Museoa <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>presents&nbsp;<strong>the history of Vizcaya through the traces left by its inhabitants<\/strong>, from prehistoric times to more recent historical periods. It has become a reference centre and a conduit for archaeological research in Vizcaya through its myriad activities designed to raise awareness of the history of the territory, to promote archaeological studies, and to ensure the storage, conservation and restoration of archaeological artefacts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-de-pasos-min-768x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46271 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-de-pasos-min-768x1024.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-de-pasos-min-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/www.bilbaodendak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Museo-de-pasos-min.png 1108w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Museo de Pasos (Religious Floats Museum)<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/museodepasosbilbao.com\/es\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bilbao Easter Week Floats Museum<\/a>&nbsp;is located in Calle Iturribide, in the Casco Viejo, in a neoclassical building that dates back to the 18th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum exhibits a good number of the<strong>&nbsp;floats of the Stations of the Cross of the Passion of Christ<\/strong>&nbsp;that different brotherhoods bear aloft during Holy Week processions, together with other floats that are kept in the churches of Bilbao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These floats have been paraded countless times through the streets of Bilbao.
